FAQ

Cthulhu Luau is an immersive, interactive show set in a 1960’s social club. You can dress in your tropical best, grab a drink, watch the story unfold, and listen to our live 5 piece tiki band with original music.

Or, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong, the ladies may need your help! Participate in challenges and solve puzzles to help the ladies (maybe) save the world from an ancient evil!

Cthulhu Luau is located at 16 Maple Street in Belmont at the Odd Fellows Lodge. We will be completely transforming the vintage social hall into a 1962 tiki party, hosted by the Lady’s Auxiliary.

The venue is accessible via public transportation on the 73 bus line, as well as Fitchburg Line of the commuter rail. There is ample free street parking in the area.

Doors open at 7:00 and the show begins at 7:30. It will run approximately two and a half hours and end at 10:00.

You’re welcome to just enjoy the show: hanging out in a 1960’s tiki party is pretty fun! Our bar will be serving up exceptional tiki drinks all night.

If you want to solve puzzles without interacting, perhaps team up with somebody who would rather interact than solve puzzles! Together you can also complete non-puzzling challenges which might involve constructing/decorating/general silliness.

You definitely will not be dragged out to interact in front of the full audience, all interactions are personal, like chatting with someone at a bar.

Table tickets are seated tickets around rectangular tables. Each of the eight tables will be aligned with one of the eight ladies from the auxiliary: she will need your table’s help completing challenges to appease Edna’s demands or suffer her wrath! They can also complete puzzles to help free Edna. Premium Table tickets ($90) are closest to the stage, the rest are Standard Table tickets ($79).

High-top tickets ($65) are at tall tables with four high chairs. Guests at these tables will not be aligned with their own auxiliary lady or challenge materials, but can still work with the ladies to complete puzzles and help free Edna!

We highly recommend dressing up: it is fun to have an excuse to dress your best and if everybody dresses up, it helps with the immersion! If you don’t know how to dress vintage tiki, just dress to impress!

Here’s some inspiration:

We’ve specifically designed the show to be enjoyable for all different engagement levels. You can interact as much or as little as you’d like. Some of the pathways are more puzzle-y than others, and the ladies will be around to help you find a way to enjoy yourself, or help you out if you get stuck! Folks of all different ages are welcome, the show is family friendly.

For logistical reasons, we will not be roasting a pig at our luau. There may be some type of sufficiently kitsch snack (think Chex Mix), but a meal will not be served. Definitely grab dinner beforehand! There will not be any shellfish, nuts, avocado or mushroom, due to venue restrictions.

Amy Kucharik and her band Lulu and the Cephalopops will be playing original tiki surf-rock music throughout the show and you’re welcome to get your hula groove on! However, there won’t be a big dance floor like at Club Drosselmeyer, so space for dancing will be somewhat limited.

The Belmont Odd Fellows Lodge is a historic building which is unfortunately not fully accessible at this time. There are several stairs to get up into the building, and a flight of stairs to get down to the area where the show takes place.

Since the show involves a lot of talking, actors will be unmasked so you can hear what they’re saying. For the audience, masks will be optional and we will not be checking vaccination status.
